WAREHOUSE MATERIAL HANDLER I

General Description

The Material Handler I is responsible for transporting inbound and outbound materials within a production cell. In addition, the Material Handler I will maintain and update various computer systems to ensure the timely delivery of manufactured product and accurate count of inventory.

1. Operate a forklift to transport inbound and outbound materials within production cells.

2. Update data within the computer systems including location and inventory count of all materials.

3. Verify material move requirements and check the status of orders to prepare for daily production schedules to ensure on‐time delivery of finished products.

4. Correspond with supervisors or Material Handler II employees to resolve shortages of materials or inventory balance discrepancies.

5. Report accurate count of production parts and scrap by completing required paperwork and/or electronic entry.

6. Assist manufacturing team members with material requests and order additional components as needed.

7. Perform daily safety inspections of material handling equipment and weekly watering of the lift truck batteries.

8. Observe all safety guidelines and report safety concerns to management.

9. Follow lean manufacturing principles to help solve daily problems, improve efficiencies, and keep the work area organized and clean.

10. Follow all safety standards. Always prioritize safety over output. Communicate all safety concerns to your supervisor.

11. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:

High School Diploma/GED

Years of Experience:

1 to 3 years of experience required

One year of related work experience in a manufacturing environment is required. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand basic English.

Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment (PPE). Knowledge of 6S standards is preferred. Experience with IMI Series (AS400) is preferred.

Must be able to operate a Class II Sit‐Down Forklift, RF Scanner, and Pallet Jack. Must possess knowledge in updating data and navigating through material requirements planning software and supply chain software (i.e., production reporting, inventory location/cycle count software, etc.).

Ability to demonstrate basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). Ability to demonstrate a high level of safety awareness. Ability to read a production ticket, job packet, or bill of material for work orders. Ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail. Ability to meet established deadlines.
