Job Description:

As a Medical Assistant / Phlebotomist, you will play a vital role in supporting healthcare providers and ensuring patients receive efficient, high-quality care. Your responsibilities will include preparing testing rooms, assisting with medical tests, and providing essential patient care. You will be involved in both clinical and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the testing room with the proper tools and equipment for procedures.
  • Walk patients through the process of needle insertion and blood sample collection.
  • Label blood samples accurately for further analysis in medical laboratories.
  • Clearly explain the blood-drawing process to patients and ensure their understanding.
  • Reassure and calm patients who may be nervous or anxious about the procedure.
  • Apply dressings to any wound caused by blood collection.
  • Ensure proper patient identification, especially when working on hospital floors.
  • Prepare patients for medical examinations and procedures.
  • Take vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, etc.) and document patient medical histories.
  • Assist healthcare providers with medical tests and examinations.
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by healthcare providers.
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage appointment logistics.
  • Obtain blood samples, ensuring proper handling and storage.
  • Perform data entry and maintain accurate patient records.
  • Measure and record vital signs and document any changes or concerns.

Administrative Support Responsibilities:

  • File, copy, and fax necessary documentation and patient records.
  • Maintain organized records and assist with the management of patient files.
  • Assist with typing and documentation for physicians as a scribe.
  • Use computer systems to enter patient information and manage medical records.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in computer systems and medical software.
  • Strong research skills for retrieving relevant information.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare staff.
  • Ability to stay organized and manage administrative tasks efficiently.
  • Compassionate and calm demeanor when interacting with patients.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.
